Premier League Academy Coaches Come To Coventry

16 June 2011

Coerver® Coaching West Midlands hosted their latest Pro Clinic during the Whitsun Holidays 2011 in Coventry. The Pro Clinic concept allows players within the Coerver® Coaching Performance Academy programme and invited professional club academy players to work with Top Premier League academy coaches who are brought in from different clubs from around the country.

Our Whitsun Pro Clinic saw 45 invited players from the Performance Academy and Birmingham City FC academy working with Tom Bates, Academy Coach and Sports Psychologist from Birmingham City FC, Gavin Taylor, Skills Coach and Head of Football Movement from Fulham FC and Saul Hurst, Academy coach from Tottenham Hotspur FC.

Attending players were given the opportunity to work with all 3 coaches who delivered technical and game based sessions from their respective clubs coaching syllabuses.

Guset coach Tom Bates said of the course The Pro Clinic from Coerver offers a unique opportunity for young grassroots players to gain coaching contact from premier league academy coaches. It's an excellent platform for players to learn a variety of skills and gain an insight into the type of high tempo practices that we deliver within the academy environment.

The Pro clinic also offers a natural pathway for players of the required standard to progress into the Academy System via direct contact with professional club coaches. Combining the Coerver philosophy with technical drills used in top flight English academies gives young players the best chance to improve and be the best that they can be moving forwards in their young lives. It is a first class initiative, run with insight, energy and expertise”.

The day finished with a players and parents Q & A session with the three guest coaches.

Parent Archie Macpherson said of the course “My son thoroughly enjoyed the Coerver Pro Clinic. Spending time under the eye and guidance of Premier League coaches is invaluable to his development and an opportunity which is not usually available to those players outside of the academy system. The coaching was top-notch and re-affirmed that the Coerver model is the way to develop the technical skills of my son. A great day and I would recommend the experience to all.”

The next Coerver® Coaching Pro Coaching Clinic will be the Summer residential to be hosted at Warwick University over 3 days and 2 nights from 30th August – 1st September 2011, full details will be available shortly.
