Coerver EW Director returns to lecture at the Real Madrid University

Saturday 17th March 2018 saw Coerver® England & Wales Director, Scott Wright head back to Madrid to lecture at the Real Madrid University for the fifth consecutive year.

The MSc in Talent Identification and Development in Soccer Course, which is held at the Villaviciosa de Odon campus, is ran in joint partnership between the European University of Madrid (Universidad Europea) and the world’s biggest football club, Real Madrid CF.

The prestigious course provides students with access to some of the leading organisations within world football – AFC Ajax, Borussia Dortmund, GNK Dinamo Zargreb and Sevilla FC are just a handful of top level clubs that have presented on the course recently.

During the 1-day class, Scott presented both theory and practical sessions aimed at providing the students with an insight into the evolution of Coerver® Coaching since being founded in 1984.

“Once again, it was truly an honour for myself and Coerver® Coaching to be invited back to deliver on one of the most prestigious football education courses available in the world” said Scott. “One of the objectives of the course is for the best students to progress into working at the club.”

“As it stands around 75% of all Real Madrid academy groups between U8-U19 have a current or former course student as a staff member so it’s fantastic to see the employment pathway being developed between the course and the club.”

“I look forward to returning to Madrid next year and to continue the wonderful relationship that has been built since we first started to work together on the course in 2013.”

Guillermo Hamdan Zaragoza is a pivotal member of the course faculty – providing support to course director, David Viejo Romero and said “When we did the curriculum for the Master programme, we thought we needed Coerver® to be a part of it because it is such a big brand worldwide. We thought that if we want to have a top programme, we needed Coerver® to be part of this.”

“We hope that this relationship continues not only now but also for the future as our programme continues to grow.”
